San Lorenzo Montessori Academy is a secular institution with no religious affiliation, instruction or practice. Children are admitted without regard to race, religion, or national origin.
San Lorenzo Montessori Academy is a private school which follows an academic calendar year. Our school year starts in September, generally after Labor Day, and will run through late May or early June depending on the program in which your child is enrolled. We observe all the national holidays and school is closed for the summer. In addition, our school calendar has regular school holidays in November, December, February, and April.
We believe that a Montessori education is very appropriate for all children but may not work for all parents. To determine if Montessori is right for you, we have developed the following admission procedures: Classroom observation followed by a scheduled interview with child and classroom teacher. Transfer of any existing school records. Notification of acceptance status by letter to parents. Deposit ($250 non-refundable) and signed contract due to hold place in class. Record of immunizations.
The parent of a San Lorenzo Montessori student will have an opportunity to be involved in his or her child’s program. Parents will learn about the program by attending class level open houses and participating in volunteer opportunities. Parents may also attend scheduled discussion groups dealing with aspects of child rearing, the home environment and child psychology. Finally, observing the class and discussing their observations with the Montessori professional.
